Shubman Gill handed maiden India Test call-up for South Africa series

The 20-year-old replaces KL Rahul for the three-match series in the only change from the squad which beat West Indies 2-0

India have included Shubman Gill in their squad to face South Africa in a three-Test series in October.

The 20-year-old, who has played two one-day internationals for his country, has replaced KL Rahul in the squad.

That is the only change from the group which beat West Indies 2-0 in August and September.

In 14 first-class matches, Gill has scored 1,443 runs at an impressive average

Mayank Agarwal keeps his place despite failing to convince during the series, with Rohit Sharma set to be given the opportunity to open for the first time in Tests.

South Africa tour India for two T20s next month, before the three Test series which starts on October 2 in Visakhapatnam.
