Shannon Gabriel limps off field after West Indies win toss and elect to bowl

Gabriel is one of three seamers in this West Indies side, having replaced Alzarri Joseph with Rahkeem Cornwall

Shannon Gabriel left the field on first morning of the final Test at Emirates Old Trafford, just two balls into his fourth over, before returning later in the session.

There had been talk in the build-up to the game about whether the fast bowler would be fit enough to take his place, given his physical exertion in the first two matches of the series andd the short turnaround between matches.

He left the field intermittently in the second Test, as did Alzarri Joseph, who was replaced by Rahkeem Cornwall for this match.

Having lost Joseph and with Gabriel now struggling once more with injury, it increases the pressure on Jason Holder and Kemar Roach, who completed his over, as well as the off-spinning pair of Cornwall and Roston Chase.

Gabriel managed just 20 balls before taking his cap from umpire Michael Gough and leaving the field. His 3.2 overs had cost just two runs, having bowled two maidens in the process.

He returned to the field before the end of the first session, getting through a further four overs ahead of the lunch interval.
