The Cricketer runs the rule over the individual performances of both sets of players during the Royal London One-Day Cup clash between Somerset and Hampshire...
Tom Alsop (16): Found it hard to find a rhythm against Somerset’s new-ball pair. 4
Aneurin Donald (11): Slapped a drive straight to cover. Still yet to make a major impression with Hampshire. 4
Joe Weatherley (12): Undone by a delivery from Gregory which nipped back in off the seam, took his inside edge and off stump. 4
Sam Northeast (56): With the exception of Rossouw, the only top-order batsman in the Hampshire side to make the wicket look favourable. Out in ugly fashion with 13 overs left when his team would have wanted, and needed, much more. 7
Rilee Rossouw (28): Flashbang innings in 17 balls before chopping on. Looked in excellent nick, a year on from his fine century at Lord’s. 5
Gareth Berg (27 & 0-13): Gave Northeast solid support before top-edging a hook to Bartlett in the deep. Like most of his teammates, found life tricky at the crease. 6
James Fuller (55* & 1-26): A terrific time for his first List A half-century. Gave the Hampshire bowling unit some hope in an excellent partnership with Crane and claimed a wicket to boot. 7.5
Chris Wood (0 & 0-28): Out hooking second ball, with his team needing to bat the overs. A good catch in the deep. Miserly with the ball. 4
Kyle Abbott (2 & 0-43): Dismissed cheaply, bowled by Abell playing along the wrong line. Could not make early inroads into the Somerset batting line-up. 5
Mason Crane (28* & 0-62): A run-a-ball foil for Fuller’s belligerent fifty. Did not look like threatening with the ball. 6.5
Fidel Edwards (DNB & 3-69): Not particularly effective in his initial spell but came back with a bang later on, using the short delivery to maximum effect and briefly giving Hampshire a chance. 7
Sam Northeast made a half-century for Hampshire
Tom Banton (69): Gave Somerset the perfect platform for the chase with an inventive half-century, powerful through the line of the ball and excellent with his wrists. 8.5
Azhar Ali (45): Played the understudy role to his junior partner, and to aplomb. Will be disappointed not to have gone on after a solid start. 6.5
Peter Trego (29): Steadied the ship after the loss of Azhar and Banton in quick succession. Not quite at his explosive best. 5
James Hildreth (69*): A wonderful story - the old-timer guiding Somerset to victory with a perfectly-paced knock. A drop at slip made up for next ball by a comfortable catch. 8
Tom Abell (14 & 2-19): How reliable has this guy become with the ball? Frustrated Hampshire with nagging line and length, offering little pace or width with which the batsmen could work. Conceded just 19 in five overs, and collected Northeast’s wicket when the Hants skipper was set. Could not hang around to see the job through with the bat. 7.5
George Bartlett (14*): Two well-taken catches in the deep. Helped Hildreth see it home. 6
Lewis Gregory (DNB & 1-42): Got rid of Weatherley with a beautiful in-ducker but otherwise relatively quiet with the ball. 6.5
Roelof van der Merwe (DNB & 0-52): On a pitch which offered little for the spinners, Van der Merwe held his nerve, line and length. 6
Craig Overton (DNB & 0-52): Disciplined in the powerplay, during which Hampshire only made 43. A little looser later on. 6.5
Jamie Overton (DNB & 3-48): Superb in the middle of the innings, generating genuine pace, hurrying the batsmen and picking up the key wicket of Rossouw. Came in for some punishment in his final stint. 8
Josh Davey (DNB & 2-28): An excellent new-ball spell set the tone for Somerset. Hampshire’s openers could not find a way to get him away. 8
