The wicket-keeper has been installed as Cape Town Blitz for the Mzansi Super League but insists he is not pining for Faf du Plessis' job
Quinton de Kock has no plans to replace Faf du Plessis as South Africa captain but admits he is keen on the role should it become available.
The wicket-keeper was installed as skipper for the three-match T20 series against India in September, which saw The Proteas claim a 1-1 draw.
Du Plessis missed the series to play for Kent in the T20 Blast before returning for the three Tests.
While De Kock will lead Cape Town Blitz during the upcoming Mzansi Super League, while Du Plessis is the captain of Paarl Rocks.
"The way I see it is that I was just a replacement," De Kock told ESPNcricinfo of the India series.

"That's the way I took it. For now, it's still Faf's baby. But maybe if things change and they do want me to do it, then I will do it.
"For the moment, I am not looking too far ahead. I am just trying to look at how I can help out with the youngsters, with the new guys in the T20 team and by myself, just getting better and getting ready for the T20 World Cup next year.
"But if that does come upon me, then I will try and grab it with both hands."
South Africa are not back in action until the four-Test series against England, which begins on Boxing Day, which precedes three one-day internationals and three T20s between the two nations.
