IPL 2021 AUCTION: All you need to know

IPL on course for India as UAE return is ruled out

The final shortlist of players available for the Indian Premier League auction ahead of the 2021 edition of the tournament has been unveiled.

There are 61 berths - 22 overseas - to fill across the eight teams from the 292 player pool, which was whittled down from 1097 initial entrants.

Seventeen new players, not among the original list, have been added after becoming subject to interest from at least one franchise.

Among them is Shaun Marsh, Corey Anderson, Morne Morkel and Jack Wildermuth.

Ten players have been inserted into the highest price category of IND 2 Cr, with Australia pair Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell among the big-ticket items after being released Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, respectively.

In all, there are 164 Indian players available, 125 from overseas and three associate stars.

England are represented by 17 players in the auction. Jason Roy, Moeen Ali and Sam Billings were all released after 2020 but return in the top price bracket.

They are joined by World Cup hopefuls Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Tom Curran, Liam Livingstone and Reece Topley.

Elsewhere, David Willey, Ben Duckett, Liam Plunkett, Lewis Gregory, George Garton and Ravi Bopara have entered. Former Surrey and Derbyshire spinner Nayan Doshi is the oldest entry at 42.

The auction will take place from 3pm local time (9:30am GMT) on Thursday, February 18 in Chennai following the second Test between India and England in the same city.
