The Cricketer runs the rule over the individual performances of both sets of players during the first ODI between India and England in Pune
Rohit Sharma (28): England bowled well to Rohit, one of the all-time greats of ODI cricket; he edged behind to a wide ball from Stokes 5
Shikhar Dhawan (98): Didn’t appear to be in great touch early on, but found his rhythm and was unfortunate not to reach three figures 9
Virat Kohli (52): Seemed set for a big score but carelessly picked out deep midwicket when well set 7
Shreyas Iyer (6): A miserable day for the talented batsman, who fell cheaply and then injured his shoulder in the field 3
KL Rahul (62*): A welcome return to form for Rahul, who needed runs having been picked ahead of Rishabh Pant to keep wicket and bat at No.5 8
Hardik Pandya (1): The allrounder didn’t bowl in this game as India look to manage his recent troubles with injury; his dismissal was soft, almost guiding the ball into the hands of first slip 2
Krunal Pandya (58* & 1-59): A fantastic effort on ODI debut from the older Pandya, who changed the game and gave India momentum with a tremendous counterattack in the last 10 overs 8
Shardul Thakur (3-37): Took three key wickets of Bairstow, Morgan and Buttler - bowled nicely 8
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-30): Best of the bowlers on show across both sides - not for the first time 8
Kuldeep Yadav (0-68): Horribly short on rhythm and taken down early on by Bairstow 3
Prasidh Krishna (4-54): Four wickets on debut for the seamer, who was attacked by England early on but recovered well 7

Krunal Pandya changed the game with his late hitting
Jason Roy (46): His highest ODI score since the World Cup semi-final in 2019 and played some gorgeous shots, before cutting at point 6
Jonny Bairstow (94): Brutal assault on India’s bowling from a remarkable white-ball cricketer – like Dhawan, deserved a hundred 9
Ben Stokes (1 & 3-34): Excellent day with the ball for the allrounder, who was the pick of England's seamers; as expected, he was pushed up to bat at No.3 in Joe Root’s absence 6
Eoin Morgan (22): Split the webbing on his hand but still looked in fine touch with the bat, before edging an attempted pull shot off Krishna 4
Jos Buttler (2): Victim of a marginal lbw decision, upheld on review. Quiet day 2
Sam Billings (18): Difficult game for the Kent man, who injured his collar bone joint in the field and then came to the crease mid-collapse. Will be disappointed by the manner of his dismissal 4
Moeen Ali (30 & 0-28): Expensive with the ball and dropped a sitter, but looked in decent touch with the bat 4
Sam Curran (12 & 0-48): Bowled manfully but not at his best with the bat 5
Tom Curran (11 & 0-63): Another difficult day for Tom Curran, who has now taken just one wicket in his last nine ODIs, though he bowled nicely with the newer ball 4
Adil Rashid (0 & 0-66): A rare off-day for the leg-spinner, who was played expertly by India’s batsmen. He would have taken a couple of wickets if Moeen had held a straightforward catch and a tight lbw had gone his way 4
Mark Wood (2* & 2-75): Quick with the new ball but the victim of Krunal’s late charge 4
