Adelaide: Hobart Hurricanes 96, Perth Scorchers 99-5 - Perth Scorchers won by five wickets

Scorecard

Marizanne Kapp was in fine form as Perth Scorchers cruised to victory over Hobart Hurricanes.

The South African claimed 4 for 10 with the ball and hit an unbeaten 18 to claim a fifth tournament win for the two-time runners-up.

Kapp ran through a Hurricanes line-up which was at one staged 19 for 6 after choosing to bat first.

Ruth Johnston scored 38 from 40 to give the innings some respectability but 96 all out was always likely to be some way short of a competitive total.

Scorchers lost Beth Mooney (6) and captain Sophie Devine (11) to Tayla Vlaeminck early on in the reply.

However, the middle-order came to the party.

Chloe Piparo (29) and Chamari Athapaththu (18) led the rebuild before Kapp returned to hit a quartet of boundaries to secure victory, which came with 27 balls to spare.

The result leaves Scorchers third, level on 11 points with Brisbane Heat, while Hurricanes are two points off the pace in the race for the playoffs after 11 matches.
