Perth Scorchers have signed Lancashire’s Liam Livingstone ahead of their 2019/20 Big Bash campaign.

The 26-year-old batsman heads to Western Australia as the team’s first overseas signing for the upcoming season.

Livingstone, who has represented England in two T20 internationals, struck 273 runs and picked up 14 wickets in the 2019 Vitality Blast and has 1,795 career T20 runs under his belt at an average of 27.19 and strike rate of 141.44.

The Lancashire man said the Big Bash is a competition he has always strived to take part in: “I’m so excited to have signed with the Scorchers for the upcoming Big Bash, it’s a tournament I’ve always wanted to play in so I can’t wait to get to Perth,” he said.

“I’ve spent a winter in Perth, I know the place well and I’m looking forward to getting back there.

“I can’t wait to see everyone at the Furnace this summer and hopefully I can provide some entertainment for the fans!”

The Perth-based team have found their batting line-up depleted following Michael Klinger’s retirement and Shaun Marsh’s move to Melbourne Renegades. The acquisition of Livingstone should go some way to bolstering their top order.

Head coach Adam Voges highlighted Livingstone’s all-round attributes.

“We’re very pleased to have secured Liam for the upcoming season,” Voges said.

“He has performed really well in T20 cricket all around the world over the past 12 months.

“Liam’s a great all-round package, he’ll give us some aggression at the top of the order, he’s a handy spinner and a fantastic fielder.

“We’re excited about what Liam can bring to the Scorchers this season and I’m sure he’ll become a fan favourite very quickly.”
