Sri Lanka have made wholesale changes to their one-day squad following a mixed World Cup campaign.
Ten players have been recalled and four left out following the tournament in a 22-man squad ahead of a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.
Chief among the returners is Niroshan Dickwella; the eccentric wicketkeeper-batsman was controversially left out of Sri Lanka’s World Cup party, before watching his country struggle for runs for the most part as they crept to a sixth placed finish.
There are also places for fast bowler Lahiru Kumara, off-spinner Akila Dananjaya and left-arm leg-spinner Lakshan Sandakan, all of whom missed the World Cup.
Both Dananjaya and Sandakan were overlooked in favour of Milinda Siriwardana and Jeffrey Vandersay as spin options for the flagship competition. However, the pair were entrusted with just a single game each, with the duo bowling a combined nine overs at a cost of 77 runs.
Jeevan Mendis, whose World Cup selection saw him play his first ODIs since 2015, bowled just 11.1 overs of his leg-spin in three matches, conceding 70 runs in the process.
Vandersay, whose solitary spell against West Indies lacked the consistency hoped for by captain Dimuth Karunaratne, took the only wicket picked up by any of Sri Lanka’s spinners.
Seamer Suranga Lakmal was the other member of Sri Lanka’s World Cup group to miss out on selection for the series against Bangladesh, while Nuwan Pradeep, who impressed before contracting chickenpox, also returns.
There is still no place, however, for Dinesh Chandimal, who captained the side until October 2018.
Wanidu Hasaranga, Amila Aponso, Shehan Jayasuriya, Danushka Gunathilaka, Dasun Shanaka and Lahiru Madushanka have also been called up to the 22-man list for the series, which takes place between July 23 and July 31.

Do not camble any player for the sake of selection purposes. I would suggest some under 19 players, to call forselection too, in order to build the next WC team right from the begining. God bless SLC
