Mel joins the team to add to our award-winning news, features and insight throughout what promises to be a great English summer of cricket
Acclaimed cricket journalist and broadcaster Mel Farrell is joining The Cricketer as our overseas signing for the 2025 English summer.
Mel will write exclusively for our website and magazine this season, adding to our team's award-winning on-the-ground coverage of county cricket and the international game, and contribute to our video and podcasts in an exciting year for the sport in England.
Mel has reported and commentated on cricket around the world, and has covered county summers as a broadcaster too.
With her keen Australian eye on the men's Ashes this winter, she'll be giving her thoughts on the progress of the England team in a jam-packed summer schedule, as well as what it might mean for their chances Down Under.
She'll offering her expert analysis on the touring India side too, having covered their Test series defeat in Australia over the winter.
Mel said: "I'm looking forward to all of it.
"I've fallen in love with the county season, having been doing lots of commentary over the past couple of summers, so there's a lot of county cricket storylines I'm really interested in."
In joining The Cricketer, she reunites once again with our chief correspondent George Dobell, her former colleague at Cricinfo.
Check out the video above to catch the pair in conversation, where they give their thoughts on the forthcoming domestic and international season – and Mel reveals why she's looking forward to joining our team.
