Roy pulled up in the field during the victory over West Indies at Southampton on Friday and underwent scans in London over weekend, which revealed the extent of the injury
Jason Roy has suffered a hamstring tear and will miss England's next two matches at the World Cup.
Roy pulled up in the field during the victory over West Indies at Southampton on Friday and underwent an MRI scan on his left leg in London over weekend, which revealed the extent of the injury.
England say the batsman will be assessed "on an ongoing basis" over the course of the coming week, but he will sit out the games against Afghanistan at Old Trafford on Tuesday, and Sri Lanka at Headingley on Friday.
James Vince is set to fill in at the top of the order. England will not feel rushed to replace Roy in the World Cup squad.

There is better news for captain Eoin Morgan, however.
Morgan left the field in Southampton with a back spasm but the issue has since subsided. He has yet to be ruled out of the meeting with Afghanistan, with England saying he will be monitored over the next 24 hours.
The skipper also underwent a scan over the weekend, as well as being treated by the England medical staff.
