Netherlands have appointed ex-England international James Foster as a consultant coach.

The 39-year-old will join up with the men's squad in June and will be on hand during the T20 World Cup in Australia.

New Zealand, Pakistan and Zimbabwe are also set to take on the Dutch as preparation for the showcase tournament

Foster, who replaces Trevor Penny after he joined West Indies, has occupied a number of coaching positions since calling time on his playing career.

An ever-present at Essex, he also played seven Tests, 11 one-day internationals and five T20Is for England.

Currently working with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League, Foster will join up with Kolkata Knight Riders as fielding coach during the upcoming Indian Premier League.

Khulna Titans, Sydney Thunder, Vancouver Knights, Afghanistan Boost Defenders, Worcestershire, England Lions and Glamorgan have also benefitted from his advice.

"I am really excited to be joining up with the KNCB national team for what is a very exciting and busy year of cricket for the team," he said.

"Tendo and Trevor have spoken very positively about the set up and playing group and I am really looking forward to joining up with the team after the IPL.

"I have worked with and against a few of the players across various T20 leagues and I am hopeful I can add to the good work that Cambo and the coaching team have been doing."

Head coach Ryan Campbell added: "Replacing Trevor Penney was always going to be a tough assignment, but I feel we have been extremely lucky in signing former England & Essex wicketkeeper James Foster.

"Fozzie is currently one of the most in-demand young coaches in World Cricket and the experience he has picked up with being involved in the IPL, CPL, BPL & PSL will be invaluable to us heading into the ODI Super League and T20 World Cup.

"He comes with massive wraps and I can’t wait for our players and backroom staff to begin working with him."
