The Cricketer takes a look at the players who have made the biggest impact in the Indian Premier League over the course of the past seven days...
Jonny Bairstow (Sunrisers Hyderabad): A rapid-fire 45 against Rajasthan Royals on Friday set the tone but the main event was to come on Sunday - 114 from 56 balls which crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore. Destructive batting at its best.
David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad): The Australian opener is in red-hot form. He crashed 69 in 37 balls against Rajasthan Royals and then spanked an unbeaten century in the huge win over RCB, sharing in an opening stand worth 185 in 16.2 overs with Bairstow.
Prithvi Shaw (Delhi Capitals): The young batsman once again showed maturity way beyond his tender years with a brilliant 99 against Kolkata Knight Riders in a dramatic tied match.
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals): He might not be the star attraction in the Royals’ line-up but Samson’s devastating 55-ball 102 in a losing cause against Sunrisers was worthy of the headline act.
Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders): Dre Russ once again showed the world why he is arguably the most impactful T20 player of his generation with two bulldozing knocks - 48 in 17 balls against Kings XI Punjab (eight deliveries went to the boundary), and 62 from 28 against Delhi (10 boundaries). Just for good measure, he also took 3-21 with the ball in the first game and 1-28 in the second. Incredible.
IPL HUB
MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings): The master chaser saw his team to victory with a composed unbeaten 32 against the Capitals but it was his knock in Chennai’s win over Rajasthan which impressed most, as he accelerated through the gears to finish with 75 in 46 balls.
Jofra Archer (Rajasthan Royals): Surely this lad is going to be in England’s World Cup squad. With most of the rest of the league routinely going at sevens and worse this season, Archer popped up with spells of 0-17 from four overs against Kings XI and 2-17 from four against Chennai. Rajasthan lost on both occasions but the allrounder has not done his international chances any harm whatsoever.
Mohammad Nabi (Sunrisers Hyderabad): An almost impossible chase of 232 was always unlikely for RCB, and Nabi made sure of it with 4-11 in four overs, including a daft 16 dot balls.
Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals): Kept his nerve brilliantly in the Super Over win over Kolkata, yorking Andre Russell with a sizzling yorker.
Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians): Mumbai hung on for a six-run victory over RCB thanks in no small part to their dastardly seamer, whose return of 3-20 in four overs kept Kohli and Co on a short leash.
Deepak Chahar (Chennai Super Kings): Figures of 2-19 with 12 dots against Rajasthan in a narrow win followed 1-20 with 12 dots against Delhi Capitals. Truly excellent.
