The Cricketer assesses the latest batch of displays from the Indian Premier League...
Faf du Plessis (Chennai Super Kings): The South African’s 39 from 41 set the platform from which Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravi Jadeja could spring against Delhi Capitals. The opener followed with his highest score of IPL2019, striking 96 from 55 against Kings XI.
KL Rahul (Kings XI): Rahul has struck fifties in two of his last three IPL innings. Chasing 171 for victory against Chennai, Rahul gave Kings XI a lightning start, walloping 71 from 36 - hitting seven fours and five sixes - to see off CSK by six wickets with two overs to spare.
Shubman Gill (Kolkata Knight Riders): The Kolkata Knight Riders’ opener followed his 76 against Mumbai with an unbeaten 65 - chasing 184 -to lead his side to victory over Kings XI. Gill has now hit three half-centuries for KKR in IPL2019.
Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians): Sharma struck his third half-century of the tournament - his second in four matches - in Mumbai’s nine-wicket win over Kolkata. Rohit struck an unbeaten 55 from 48 - hitting eight fours - at Mumbai.
Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings): The veteran motored into May with back-to-back fifties - his second and third of the tournament - for CSK. His 59 came from 37 balls as CSK brushed Delhi Capitals aside before his 53 from 38 was not enough to prevent defeat to Kings XI at Chandigargh.
Quinton de Kock (Mumbai Indians): De Kock has been consistent with the bat for Mumbai and added two more solid efforts in the past two matches. The South African wicketkeeper registered 69 not out against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a match Mumbai would eventually win in a one-over eliminator. De Kock added 30 in the Indians’ nine-wicket thrashing of KKR. The keeper also claimed three catches in those two matches.

Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians): The allrounder struck a stunning 91 from 34 balls as Mumbai threatened to chase KKR’s monster 232 for two. Pandya then picked up two for 20 in both of Mumbai’s following to victories over Sunrisers and KKR.
Sam Curran ( KIngs XI Punjab): Surrey’s Curran top-scored for Kings XI against Kolkata Knight Riders, cracking an unbeaten 55 off 24 balls - hitting seven fours and two sixes - at Chandigargh. The knock, however, wasn’t enough to stop Kings XI being knocked out of this year’s tournament.
Curran then picked up three for 35 against Chennai Super Kings and struck the winning runs in a six-wicket victory.
Shreyas Gopal (Rajasthan Royals): 25-year-old Gopal has picked up five wickets in his last two matches, taking his overall tally to 20 in 14 games for Rajasthan. Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians): The India seamer has picked up identical figures of two for 31 in his last two outings. Bumrah shouldered the pressure of bowling the Super Over against Sunrisers, in which he crucially bowled Mohammad Nabi to complete a man-of-the-match performance.
Imran Tahir (Chennai Super Kings): South Africa spinner Tahir ripped through Delhi in Chennai has his side ran out comfortable winners. Tahir’s spin claimed figures of four for 12 in 3.2 overs. His four-for brought his wicket-taking tally to 21 for the tournament.
