Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been issued show-cause notices by The Committee of Administrators (CoA), who oversee the BCCI's administration, for comments that were made by the pair on  a TV show.

On Sunday January 6, Pandya and Rahul featured on an episode of Koffee With Karan, a talk show which is hosted by film director Karan Johar.

During their appearance, the players came in for criticism on social media for comments made, which were considered to be of a racist and sexist nature.

"We have sent show-cause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their comments," said CoA chairman Vinod Rai.

"They have 24 hours to give an explanation."

In the wake of the backlash, Pandya has taken to Instagram to apologise for his comments.

"After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way.

"Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect."
