Glamorgan have bolstered their overseas roster for the next two seasons by re-signing Michael Neser.

The deal will see the Australian seamer, who has so far taken 19 wickets in just four LV= Insurance County Championship matches this summer, return to the county for the 2022 and 2023 campaigns.

He joins compatriot Marnus Labuschagne, who has already been tied down for next year.

Neser claimed match figures of 7 for 99 in Glamorgan’s win over Lancashire in June, with his first-class wickets coming at less than 15 apiece since moving to Sophia Gardens.

Neser said: “I’ve absolutely loved playing in Wales this season and it was a no brainer to commit my future to the club.

“When I was first approached by Glamorgan, Marnus said what a fantastic place this was and how welcoming the people were and that’s exactly how I’ve found it. Cardiff is a beautiful city, and I couldn’t think of anywhere better to play over the next two years.

“As a team we’ve played some really good cricket this season and there’s plenty of young talent which bodes well for the future. Hopefully, I can bring my experience to the table to help them out and continue to contribute to more wins so we can push for silverware.”

Mark Wallace, Glamorgan’s director of cricket, added: “Signing Michael on a new two-year deal is fantastic news for the club.

“He is a world-class cricketer and a real role model to our younger players who will only get better with him around the dressing room.

“Through him and Marnus re-signing over the last year, it shows that we are not only a very welcoming club but also a very ambitious one who can attract top players.”

Despite a fine record over the course of his first-class career, with 222 wickets at an average of 24.76, the seamer is yet to make his Test debut for Australia. He has played two ODIs – both against England in 2018.
