Sarfraz Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, Tymal Mills and Angelo Mathews have all registered for the Euro T20 Slam draft, which will take place in London on July 19.

The competition's six franchises will pick a minimum of five and a maximum of seven overseas players for their squads, in price brackets ranging between $80,000 and $20,000.

Amsterdam Knights, Rotterdam Rhinos, Edinburgh Rocks, Glasgow Giants, Dublin Chiefs and Belfast Titans will also select at least nine local players - from Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands - to be a part of their setups for the tournament.

Australian allrounder Ben Cutting, Bangladesh seamer Mustafizur Rahman, South African hitter Colin Ingram and young Pakistani Shaheen Afridi have also registered for the draft, with nearly 700 players from 22 nations making themselves available to be picked.

The price brackets for overseas players have been set at $80,000, $65,000, $50,000, $35,000 and $20,000. The local players will be selected in $35,000, $20,000 and $10,000 categories.

Additionally, each team will choose an icon player and a marquee player.

The icon players available, who will earn $135,000, are Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum, Eoin Morgan, Shahid Afridi, Shane Watson and Rashid Khan. The marquee stars, who will earn £115,000, are Dale Steyn, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, Chris Lynn, Babar Azam and Luke Ronchi.

The Euro T20 Slam is scheduled to take place from August 30 until September 22.

Seems a bit harsh that the local players are subject to a salary cap of $35k. Surely if you thought, say, Paul Stirling or Kyle Coetzer were worth $50k you should be allowed to pay them that. When Irish players are being forced to choose between playing county cricket or for their country this seems a bit counterproductive.
