Chris Woakes, Sarah Glenn and Zak Crawley have been named the winners in this year's Professional Cricketers' Association awards.

Seamer Woakes has been named the Natwest PCA men's player of the year, with left-spinner Glenn scooping the women's gong.

Meanwhile, Crawley, who was also nominated for the main award, has been recognised as the Vitality Young Player of the Year.

All three awards are voted for by PCA members.

Woakes, nominated alongside Essex's Simon Harmer, Somerset seamer Craig Overton and Crawley, prevailed in the men's category after his international heroics.

Across five summer Tests he took 20 wickets at 21.65 and scored 231 runs at 36. And during the three-match one-day international series against Australia, he claimed six wickets at 22.83.

The highlight came in the first Test against Pakistan at Emirates Old Trafford, when he scored an unbeaten 84 as part of stunning fourth innings chase.

"From a personal point of view I am delighted with how it has gone," he said. "At the start of the summer, I didn't think I've bene involved too much with the Test stuff, to be honest. I probably thought I would get a couple of games here, and a couple of games there. To play five out of six was amazing.

Cook's class, magic Morley and fabulous Fisher lead the outstanding moments of a weird and wonderful 2020

"It is nice to get that recognition. This award, in particular, is chosen by your fellow professionals, the players you play against a with not only this year but throughout your whole career is really nice. Historically not many England players have won it either. you had to have a year like Ben had to get it.

"I don't always get the limelight which has been mentioned before and I'm fine with. For me to perform the way I did in the Test stuff and to follow that up in the ODIs probably nudged it my way."

Glenn, who faced competition from England captain Heather Knight and all-rounder Nat Sciver, won the women's award for her outstanding performances during the West Indies' T20 series.

The leg-spinner took seven wickets at 12 and played her first innings in the format, scoring 46 runs across her five outings.

Despite missing out on scooping both men's awards - Ben Duckett was the last to win both in the same season in 2016 - Crawley signed off on a breakthrough 2020 with England by winning the young player prize.

The Kent batsman produced arguably the outstanding individual performance of the summer, scoring 267 against Pakistan in August.

Upon returning to county duties, Crawley scored 342 runs at 38 in the T20 Blast as the Spitfires reached the quarter-finals.

The first NatWest Cricket Awards, a combination of the PCA Awards and NatWest OSCAs, honours both the community cricket club heroes and professional stars of the season in one event that will celebrate the game from the ground up in recognition of an extraordinary year for the sport.
