ENGLAND

Tammy Beaumont (4): Continued her quiet series, trapped in front by a delivery from Tahuhu that was given out on review 3

Lauren Winfield-Hill (1): Hit on the pad as she looked to work Tahuhu too square on the legside; only clipping the stumps but given out on the field 3

Heather Knight (6): Caught behind to give Tahuhu her third wicket as she pushed at a delivery wide of off-stump 3

Amy Jones (21): Not for the first time, Jones looked in and played nicely but was undone by an in-swinger from Molly Penfold to give the 20-year-old a wicket on debut 4

Sophia Dunkley (6): A similar dismissal to Jones’, who was stuck on the crease and had her defences breached 3

Danni Wyatt (10): Looked in good touch once again on the back of her match-winning half century at Worcester; the victim of a terrific, one-handed catch from Lauren Down 3

Charlie Dean (10; 1-38): Bowled nicely once again after she was cleaned up by Tahuhu; seems well at home in the international arena 5

Katherine Brunt (49*; 4-22): An absolute warrior with bat and ball, guiding England to a competitive total before almost dragging them to victory with the ball 9

Sophie Ecclestone (8; 1-41): Bowled more tightly than her figures suggest, though New Zealand's left-handers played her well, showing a willingness to hit over mid-off 6

Kate Cross (29; 0-32): Made her highest international score with the bat and looked entirely comfortable before being run out at the non-striker's end while backing up 5

Tash Farrant (12; 1-45): Formed a useful last-wicket stand once again; didn't bowl badly but found less swing than in most of her appearances since being recalled to the national side 5

NEW ZEALAND

Suzie Bates (5): Survived an early lbw shout from Brunt after being deemed too far down the pitch, much to the chagrin of the bowler, who bowled her shortly afterwards 3

Lauren Down (7): Another scratchy innings from the opener who spooned to point the ball after a caught behind appeal was rejected on review 3

Maddy Green (70*): The knock that New Zealand needed from one of their top order; Green was gutsy and there at the end as the visitors kept the series alive 9

Amy Satterthwaite (33): Looked completely untroubled before lofting Dean to mid-off - a shot that gave England a route back into a game that appeared to be slipping away from them 6

Sophie Devine (3; 0-26): Bowled tightly but played a poor shot that led to her dismissal just when New Zealand needed her experience 4

Brooke Halliday (25): Bowled by Farrant while attempting something agricultural, but her tempo allowed New Zealand to edge nearer the finishing line 5

Katey Martin (2): Kept tidily but was bowled by Ecclestone, playing for turn as the ball skidded between bat and pad 4

Hayley Jensen (1-40): Not quite as tight as her colleagues but still played her part in a fine bowling effort; victim of an inconclusive lbw decision that was upheld on review 6

Lea Tahuhu (19*; 5-37): A match-winning burst from the opening bowler, who ripped through England’s batting line-up to leave them 78 for 7 on a blameless surface; she finished the job with the bat, just when it looked like her earlier work might go to waste 9

Leigh Kasperek (1-28): Frugal throughout, giving England’s lower order little to hit; she supported her seamers well after watching them run through the home batters 6

Molly Penfold (2-42): Impressive on debut after being talked up as “a beast” at the toss by Devine; she cleaned up Jones for her first international wicket 6
