Dan Douthwaite has signed a three-year contract extension to keep him at Glamorgan until at least the end of the 2024 season.

The 24-year old allrounder joined the Welsh club from Cardiff MCCU in 2019 after impressing with a maiden first-class century against Sussex and a knock of 95 against Glamorgan in a three-day friendly.

Douthwaite hit the ground running in his first season at Sophia Gardens, scoring 298 runs and taking 17 wickets in the County Championship, and continued his good form into the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy, scoring 160 runs and taking 14 wickets in five appearances.

In total, Douthwaite has made 29 appearances for Glamorgan across all three formats, scoring 658 runs and taking 37 wickets.

Commenting on his contract extension, he said: "It’s a long extension which is quite rare but I’m really excited to commit my future to the club and it means they have a lot of faith in me too which I’m very keen to repay.

"There’s nowhere I’d rather be than playing for Glamorgan with this team and in front of our fantastic supporters.

"The last two years have been an amazing experience, and I didn’t think I’d play as much first team cricket as I have but in stands me in good stead for the future and to kick-on with the club."

Meanwhile, Glamorgan’s director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: "Dan has shown that he’s a very talented cricketer and can perform with both bat and ball across all three formats.

"He’s developed very quickly as a player since he joined us and we’re looking forward to seeing that progress continue over the next few years.

"For Dan it’s about consistency of performance and working with Matt and his coaching staff will bring that to his game and make him the match-winner we know he can be."
