Australian umpire Claire Polosak made history on Saturday as she became the first woman to stand in a men's one-day international.

Polosak, who has officiated in 15 women's ODIs, took charge of the World Cricket League Division Two final between Oman and Namibia in Windhoek.

She had previously been the first woman to umpire a men's List A match, in 2017, and the following year was one of the the first two women to stand in the WBBL.

"I am thrilled to be the first woman to stand in a men's ODI and how far I have come as an umpire," she said.

"It really is important to promote women umpires and there's no reason why females can't umpire in cricket. It's about breaking down barriers, creating awareness so more females can come into the role."
