Sydney Thunder have signed England fast bowler Chris Jordan for the final stages of the KFC Big Bash League.

He has been signed along with New Zealand batsman Anton Devchich as replacements for fellow England internationals Joe Root and Jos Buttler.

Jordan took 2-29 against Sri Lanka to help England secure a 30-run victory in their one-off T20 international. The 30-year-old has played in 34 T20Is, taking 40 wickets at an average of 28.00.

He previously featured in the Big Bash for the Adelaide Strikers and is expected to be available from 13 January when the Thunder will be taking on the aforementioned Strikers.

"The prospect of working with Shane Bond is very exciting," said Jordan.

"The Big Bash is a real spectacle, it's run really well. Seeing so many kids in the crowds bodes well for the future, they are very enthusiastic fans and I'm looking forward to entertaining everyone.

"When I step onto the field I like to play with a smile and play with passion and pride. The fans should expect a hundred percent every game and every moment."

Head coach Shane Bond is looking forward to welcoming Jordan into the team saying "CJ is not just a great bowler but a great bloke as well, he’s someone I’ve been keen to sign for some time.

“He is someone that is always spoken of highly wherever you go in the world. He’s also a top fielder who can give it a whack at the end of the innings. I’m really excited to see what he can do."

Sydney Thunder start their KFC Big Bash League season at the Manuka Oval against the Melbourne Stars on 21 December.
