Marylebone Cricket Club have confirmed Bruce Carnegie-Brown as their new chairman.

The Lloyd's of London chairman will take over from Gerald Corbett, whose six-year tenure ends on September 30, 2021.

A full member since 1997 and part of the finance committee since last year, Carnegie-Brown has held board-level positions at J.P. Morgan and Bank of America.

He becomes the sixth person to hold the position and will work closely with chief-executive and secretary Guy Lavender.

His appointment is subject to approval at the next MCC Annual General Meeting in the New Year.

"It is a huge privilege to be proposed to members as the next club chairman," he said.

"Notwithstanding the extraordinary challenges of this year, our club has proven to be very resilient and is well placed for the return of members and visitors to Lord’s as soon as this is permitted. I look forward to meeting members of the club and to earning their trust and support."

Current incumbent Corbett added: "I think Bruce will be a fantastic chairman and I’m looking forward to working closely with him to ensure an orderly handover at the end of the committee year in September."
