Brisbane Heat batsman Brendon McCullum has slammed the Sydney Thunder after they requested they be given two points after the game between the two sides was called off on Thursday.
The match was abandoned in the second innings with the Heat on 10 for 2 after a number of floodlights at the Gabba failed due to a power outage in Brisbane.
The former New Zealand captain, who was dismissed for a golden duck during the match, took to Twitter on Friday to make his feelings known about the demand.
This is ridiculous. So @ThunderBBL you want points awarded based on ground standards? Where was the responsibility to provide a roof at Spotless Stadium when it pissed with rain a week ago? Also, are you sure you were winning that game??? ...Craic on 🍀 pic.twitter.com/EcyIaIm9E0

His remarks caused a flurry of debate, with his captain Chris Lynn lending him his support, before Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques, of all people, also got stuck in, seemingly taking on all comers to argue the Thunder’s case.
Precedent has been set when CA gave Victoria points in a game that never got going due to an apparent poor outfield claiming that it’s the home teams responsibility to provide a playable surface/fixture irrelevant of who may or may not win the game.
