Rasikh Salam, who represented the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, has been banned by the BCCI for two years after lying about his age.

The seamer was due to feature on the India Under-19 tour of England this summer but has been replaced by Prabhat Maurya after a discrepancy with his birth certificate was discovered.

Though he only made one appearance for Mumbai during the IPL, finishing with 0-45 and five not out against the Delhi Capitals, Rasikh was at the time deemed to be the youngster player to represent the franchise at 17 years and 353 days.

He plays domestic cricket for Jammu & Kashmir and only made his List A debut last year for the team. His maiden T20 outing followed in February 2019.

Rasikh became the first player from his team to play in the IPL this season after Parvez Rasol and Manzoor Dar.
