Ashton Turner holds one of the most unwanted records in world cricket after posting his fifth straight T20 duck.

Playing for the Rajasthan Royals in their six-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, the Australian batsman was caught off the bowling of Ishant Sharma, the third time in succession he had been dismissed from his first delivery.

All three golden ducks have come while playing for the Royals in the IPL.

Turner's ignominious run began in February when he got out for the Perth Scorchers against the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash, also from the first ball he faced

That was quickly followed by a five-ball nought for Australia against India in Visakhapatnam when he was bowled by Krunal Pandya.

Ashok Dinda, Rahul Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, Pawan Negi and Shardul Thakur have previously made three straight ducks in the IPL.

But Turner - omitted from Australia's preliminary World Cup squad - is the first to five straight ducks in the format.

The run comes either side of a fine 84 not out for his country in a one-day international against India last month, on the way to Australia claiming a 3-2 series victory in the sub-continent.
