The young leg-spinner Archie Lenham will be among the Southern Brave's squad this evening after being named as the replacement to Liam Dawson.

Dawson, 31, was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after he fractured his finger against Manchester Originals, when a drive from Phil Salt came quickly into his right hand at an awkward angle.

Lenham, who is 14 years his junior, has been named as his replacement for the rest of the season, starting against Oval Invincibles this evening.

Liam Dawson came off injured against Manchester Originals - a later scan revealed a finger fracture

He was propelled into the public eye after becoming the youngest player to appear in the T20 Blast in June, before taking 3-14 in his second match, at just 16 years of age. Plying his trade with the Sussex Sharks, he has since been a regular in their Blast and Royal London ODI Cup campaigns.

It's an important fixture for both sides, who sit in fourth and third place respectively in the table. He will remain in the squad should the Brave progress to the Eliminator, and possibly the Final, later this week.

Lenham joins the in-form Danny Briggs, Jake Lintott and Max Waller as the spin options at the Ageas Bowl based side.

On Twitter, Dawson wrote: "Fractured finger for those of you that are asking. Hopefully back to normal in 4-6 weeks. Gutted to be missing the rest of The Hundred - what a comp it’s been for everyone involved".
