As everything changes over the next month, don't forget the Royal London Cup

Middlesex have signed Varun Chopra for their upcoming batch of white-ball matches.

The Essex batter, 34, has not figured in the first team for the Chelmsford club this season.

Chopra will be named in the squad to face Kent in the T20 Blast (Friday, July 16) and will then be available for seven One-Day Cup matches.

But he will not be eligible to face parent club Essex in either the Blast or the 50-over competition.

"I am really looking forward to a new challenge," said Chopra, who has scored 14 hundred in limited-overs cricket. "Middlesex is a big club with a rich history and traditions, and I’m excited about getting stuck in and enjoying my stint with the club.

"I am grateful to both clubs for the roles they have played in making this move happen and hope to be able to contribute with some strong performances during my time here and help Middlesex achieve success."

The arrival of Chopra comes after Steve Eskinazi was ruled out for between two and four weeks with a grade two groin muscle tear suffering while batting against Leicestershire in the LV=Insurance County Championship.

Head coach Stuart Law added: “We are excited to have Varun with us on loan for the next phase of the summer.

"He brings a wealth of experience, and his record in white-ball cricket is excellent. I look forward to working with Chops over the coming weeks.”
