Mohammad Hafeez is set to join Middlesex on a short-term deal as cover for AB de Villiers.
Club president Mike Selvey revealed on social media on Tuesday that the Pakistan allrounder has been signed to fill in for the South African, who is due to return to the club for the T20 Blast game against Hampshire on August 29.
Hafeez averages 24.49 with the bat and 22.51 with the ball over his 258-game T20 career.
The 38-year-old was part of the Pakistan squad which failed to qualify for the semi-finals at the recent World Cup, and subsequently lost his central contract with the PCB.
He has substantial boots to fill at Middlesex, for whom De Villiers excelled during his initial stay.
De Villiers hit 253 runs in five innings for the Seaxes at an average of 84.33 and strike rate of 191.66.
