The pair are expected to arrive in India ahead of Sri Lanka's clash with Netherlands on October 21 but can only be made available for selection if there is an injury.

Prior to the tournament, talismanic allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out due to a hamstring issue while Chameera was not included in the original squad after failing to prove his fitness following a series of injuries.

Captain Dasun Shanaka has since suffered a quadriceps tear while fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana missed their most recent match with a shoulder niggle.

Chameera has taken 50 wickets in 44 ODIs since making his debut in January 2015, most recently featuring against Afghanistan in June before being ruled out of the World Cup qualifying event with a torn pectoral muscle.

Mathews, meanwhile, is a veteran of 221 ODIs, scoring 5,865 runs at 41.01 and taking 120 wickets.
