Richie Berrington will lead a familiar Scotland squad at the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Scotland have made just three changes to the group who reached the Super 12s in 2021, with captain Kyle Coetzer, who retired from T20Is earlier in the summer, the most notable absentee.

Without him, captain Berrington will be among the most experienced of the Scottish batters, although Calum MacLeod, George Munsey and Matthew Cross will hope to offer plenty of support in this department.

County cricketers Josh Davey (Somerset) and Brad Wheal (Hampshire) will lead the pace attack after solid performances in last year's tournament.

Among the other changes from 2021 are Dylan Budge and seamer Ali Evans while Oliver Hairs and Gavin Main, both of whom featured alongside Evans in Scotland's recent T20 series against New Zealand, also miss out.

Michael Jones (a reserve in 2021), Chris Sole and uncapped batter Brandon McMullen are included in the squad.

Head coach, Shane Burger, hopes that this balanced squad has what it takes to perform on the big stage: "The squad has a blend of youth and experience alongside locally based players and county representatives. The balance of the team and chemistry is crucial to contributing to performances at the World Cup.

"We believe we have a good mix of the above and have selected players that are in form and can perform under pressure."

Scotland will have a challenging route to the Super 12s after being drawn in Group B alongside Ireland, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Only the top two will qualify for the next stage in the tournament.

Squad: Richie Berrington (c), George Munsey, Michael Leask, Bradley Wheal, Chris Sole, Chris Greaves, Safyaan Sharif, Josh Davey, Matthew Cross, Calum MacLeod, Hamza Tahir, Mark Watt, Brandon McMullen, Michael Jones, Craig Wallace
