The 2022 T20 World Cup final between England and Pakistan will be available on free-to-air TV in the UK.

Sky Sports hold the broadcast rights for the tournament and will show the match, which is due to take place on Sunday, November 13, on both Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Cricket from 7am.

However, they have agreed to partner with Channel 4 to ensure the match is available to as many viewers as possible.

A similar agreement was made for the 2019 Cricket World Cup final between England and New Zealand. The free-to-air coverage of that match attracted a peak TV audience of 4.5m despite the scheduling clash with the Wimbledon men's final.

Sunday's final is drawing comparisons to the 1992 Cricket World Cup final, which also took place at the MCG. Pakistan lifted the trophy on that occasion after completing a 22-run win.

Addressing the free-to-air debate in his post-match press conference, England captain Jos Buttler labelled the final an opportunity to "showcase cricket to the next generation".

"I'd be immensely happy with that. That would be fantastic for the game in our country," he said.

"As many eyes as we can get on that final will be great. [It would] be brilliant if that happens.

"It's important we always look at ways to grow our game and showcase cricket to the next generation especially, so I would really welcome that if that was possible."
