Leicestershire have signed Will Davis from Derbyshire

Will Davis has joined Leicestershire from Derbyshire.

The seamer, who has 40 first-class wickets to his name over the course of his career, has signed a two-year deal at Grace Road.

Davis, 22, will link up with two other former Derbyshire players - Tom Taylor and Callum Parkinson - at his new county.

"It's a very important time in my career, I felt that I needed a change and I'm delighted that Leicestershire have made me a great offer to join them," he said.

"After meeting the coaching staff with my representative, the experience and ambition they portrayed made it an easy decision to join and I can't wait to get started. The improvement they have shown this year under Paul Nixon speaks for itself and I want to contribute to making even greater strides in the years to come.

"I would like to thank Derbyshire for giving me a start in my career. The members, fans and staff have all been fantastic and a big thanks to my team mates who always supported me."

Leicestershire head coach Paul Nixon said: “Will is a highly promising young quick bowler who we have been tracking for a while. We are delighted to add Will to our seam bowling unit for the 2019 season alongside Chris Wright from Warwickshire.

"Will burst on to the county scene with a number of quality performances but had his chances limited due to Derbyshire’s experienced pace attack. He has had a good start to his county career."
