Rockey Flintoff scored 116 runs off 156 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, for Lancashire’s 2nd XI
Rocky Flintoff, son of former England international Andrew, has become the third youngest player to score a century in the 2nd XI Championship.
Aged 16 years and 16 days old, he scored 116 runs off 156 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, for Lancashire’s 2nd XI against Warwickshire at Edgbaston – his maiden 2nd XI century.
The only players to reach three figures at a younger age are Amir Khan, who was 15 years and 293 days when he scored a century for Warwickshire’s 2nd XI against Lancashire in July 2021, and Dan Lawrence (16 years and four days versus against Middlesex 2nd XI in July 2013).
As a result, he has overtaken his dad as the record-holder for Lancashire 2nd XI. Andrew Flintoff was 16 years and 266 days when he scored his first 2nd XI Championship century in 1994.
Rocky Flintoff (CricketArchive profile) made his 2nd XI debut on April 9 and made an unbeaten fifty off 78 balls against Durham last week.
At Edgbaston, he not only enjoyed a century partnership with England international Saqib Mahmood but also put on 39 runs while batting alongside his older brother, Corey.
He was eventually caught off the bowling of Jake Lintott in the 84th over, with Lancashire declaring on 404 for 8 shortly after.
