Derek Taylor and Sir Tim Laurence will share Kent’s presidency through 2021, it has been confirmed.

Taylor had been elected to replace Laurence next year, with Laurence initially slated to see the county through their 150th year in 2020. However, his tenure has been extended, with the majority of commemorative events having had to be postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The club recently announced that it would be continuing its anniversary celebrations into 2021 in order to rectify this year’s complications, with Laurence presiding over the relevant events and Taylor handling most of the normal presidential responsibilities.

Kent Cricket’s chairman, Simon Philip, said: “We are delighted that both Derek and Sir Tim will share presidential responsibilities during 2021.

“It will be a busy year and we have an outstanding partnership in place to help bring the county together to celebrate the club’s rich 150 years of history.

“I know that they are looking forward to working closely together during an important year for cricket in the county.”
