The Cricketer is hiring a junior designer to join its team across all platforms.

The successful candidate should be highly proficient in the Adobe suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro and After Effects, with a knack of creating eye-catching artwork in print, online, on social media and in video.

A good knowledge of cricket would be highly beneficial, as would experience at a consumer magazine or website (although neither is essential).

Reporting to the digital editor, this individual will work with the online team to film and edit entertaining video, produce standout graphic design and play a major role in continuing the expansion of one of the fastest-growing sports websites in the UK.

The successful candidate will also assist the art director in the delivery of our monthly magazine – the oldest and best cricket magazine in the world – as well as working with the commercial team to create media packs which catch the attention of potential new clients, and produce print, video and artistic output that serves the needs of our existing partners.

This role would suit an ambitious and flexible young graphic designer, most likely a recent graduate looking for their first permanent role in the media industry.

You will be working with a small but dedicated team in Kennington, South London, not far from The Oval. Typically, working hours will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm, but there is the possibility of a small amount of evening and weekend work.

There are several major events coming up in 2020 which The Cricketer will be at the epicentre of, including the first season of The Hundred, the international calendar, the busy county scene and the men’s T20 World Cup.

We will also be undertaking special projects to mark our 100th birthday in 2021, which will be a major focus of our design team over the next 12 months.

The Cricketer is an equal opportunities employer and actively encourages applications from women and the BAME community.

To apply, send your CV and examples of your design work – in as many of the specified mediums as possible – to website@thecricketer.com.

The closing date for applications is Friday, March 20, with interviews likely to take place in the following two weeks, and a starting date as soon as possible.
