Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore 199-6, Mumbai Indians 200-4 - Mumbai Indians won by six wickets

A remarkable innings by Suryakumar Yadav made sure Mumbai Indians made light work of a potentially tricky chase to land their sixth victory of the Indian Premier League campaign.

Suryakumar blitzed 83 from just 35 balls, making the most of small boundaries at the Wankhede Stadium, to ensure his side overhauled their 200-run target with 21 balls to spare.

It was a phenomenal display of persistent attacking batting, which left Royal Challengers Bangalore scrambling for a foothold in the game.

At the interval, RCB would have thought they had a competitive total, having compiled 199 for 6, thanks largely to the efforts of two of their overseas batsman.

Faf du Plessis continued his rich vein of form in this year's IPL with 65 in 41 balls at the top of the order. The South African shrugged off the cheap dismissals of partners Virat Kohli (1) and Anuj Rawat (6) to take charge of the innings.

He and Glenn Maxwell shared a third-wicket stand worth 120 in 10.1 overs to kickstart the RCB engine, with Maxwell contributing 68 from 33 deliveries.

The Australian allrounder was eventually dismissed by compatriot Jason Behrendorff, and the platform he had given the away side was not maximised in the final third of the innings.

The final 7.3 overs of RCB's time at the crease delivered 66 runs for the loss of three more wickets.

Du Plessis was victim to anoher Australian, Chris Green, for 65, and although Dinesh Karthik hit a quick 30, come the end of the match the visitors will have come to realise an opportunity was missed.

In reply, Ishan Kishan made a statement that Mumbai were not about to roll over by bulldozing his way to 42 out of a first-wicket stand of 55 in 4.4 overs.

When he departed, Suryakumar picked up the baton. The No.3 cracked 13 boundaries, six of which cleared the Wankhede ropes, to rapidly put the game beyond RCB.

With Nehal Wadhera playing an excellent supporting hand (52*), Suryakumar took his side to within eight runs of victory before being dismissed.

Mumbai go third with this win, RCB are seventh.
