Ravindra Jadeja will play no further part in the Indian Premier League after being ruled out of the remainder of the competition with a rib injury.

The Chennai Super Kings allrounder missed the clash with Delhi Capitals and will now be absent for the final three games of the group stage.

Jadeja was handed the CSK captaincy two days before the start of the 10-team tournament but was replaced by MS Dhoni after just eight matches.

He was the first player retained for the 2022 showcase ahead of the mega auction but he has endured a troubling campaign.

And as he left the bio-secure bubble, his season wasn't helped by speculation of a rift between him and CSK, after the team's Instagram page unfollowed him.

But chief executive Kasi Viswanathan has downplayed the suggestion, confirming that Jadeja has left the camp purely on medical grounds.

"Social media, I absolutely do not follow anything," he told Indian Express.

"I have no knowledge of what is going on there. What I can tell you is that from the management side, there has been no problem and whatever is there on social media, I'm not aware.

"Jadeja firmly remains in the CSK's scheme of things for the future, always.

"Jaddu had an injury during the game against RCB and after that he didn't play the game against Delhi Capitals.

"On medical advice, it has been decided that he cannot participate further in this IPL and he is heading back home. He has been released."

Speaking to Cricbuzz, former England captain Michael Vaughan believes the India allrounder's career at CSK, an unbroken spell since 2012 bar two seasons at Gujarat Titans due to their two-year suspension, could be coming to an end.

"There has to be a question mark on Jadeja's position in Chennai going forward," he said.

"If he has had a bit of a fall out because of the captaincy, whether he is injured, we'll have to wait and see what that is.

"But it might be coming to end... Jadeja at Chennai. A change might be good for both the player and franchise."
