Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with the bat, scoring 77 runs off 43 balls before Ravichandran Ashwin and Adam Zampa put CSK's batters in a spin
Jaipur: Rajasthan Royals 202-5, Chennai Super Kings 170-6 – Rajasthan Royals won by 32 runs
Rajasthan Royals climbed into first place in the 2023 Indian Premier League table following a 32-run victory over Chennai Super Kings.
The Royals, who had lost their past two matches, were in control early on, with Yashasvi Jaiswal striking 77 runs off 43 balls at the top of the order.
He and fellow opener Jos Buttler enjoyed an 86-run first-wicket stand off just 50 deliveries before the latter was removed by Ravindra Jadeja.
Tushar Deshpande struck twice in the 14th over to account for Sanju Samson and Jaiswal while Shimron Hetmyer fell to Maheesh Theekshana as CSK began to establish a foothold in the game: Rajasthan Royals 146 for 4.
However, their bowlers were powerless against the batting of Dhruv Patel and Devdutt Padikkal, whose late explosion ensured their side posted an imposing 200-plus total.

Patel blasted 34 runs off 15 deliveries before being run out by MS Dhoni in the final over while Padikkal finished unbeaten on 27 off 13.
In reply, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 47 runs off 29 balls for CSK but had little support from Devon Conway (8 off 17) and Ajinkya Rahane (15 off 13), who both failed to get going with the bat.
When he departed in the 10th over, CSK were well off the pace with just 69 runs on the board and things only went from bad to worse in the following over when Rahane and Ambati Rayudu fell to Ravichandran Ashwin in the space of three deliveries.
Shivam Dube (52 off 33) and Moeen Ali (23 off 12) ensured CSK went down fighting but it was all too little, too late.
Adam Zampa returned figures of 3 for 22 while Ashwin picked up 2 for 35.
