What's the match?

Mumbai Indians take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

When is it taking place?

The game will be played on Monday, May 8. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30pm local time (3pm GMT).

Where is the match being played?

The game will be held at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai.

Who's got the form?

Neither side has enjoyed much to write home about in an abject campaign for both franchises. Mumbai Indians have won just twice, albeit picking up their second win of the year in a surprise four-run victory over Gujarat Titans, but they are all but done for.

Kolkata Knight Riders haven't been much better, with their auction recruitment coming under fire. They sit four points ahead of Mumbai but were bowled out for just 101 by Lucknow Super Giants last time out.

Three wins out of three would take them to 14 points, but that is unlikely to be sufficient to keep KKR interested beyond the round-robin phase of this year's tournament.

What's the key match-up?

It was to the surprise of absolutely no one that Tim David's recall to the Mumbai Indians team coincided with a rare win for the five-time champions. His treatment at a franchise so often in the past an example for others to follow has been bizarre.

He smashed an unbeaten 44 off just 21 balls to propel Mumbai to a match-winning total over Titans, while Kieron Pollard struggled at the other end.

What happens with the now-former West Indies white-ball captain is one for Mahela Jayawardene to consider. Dewald Brevis, so exciting early in his maiden IPL experience, hasn't played since April 24, while Tristan Stubbs - another youngster with significant potential - has replaced Tymal Mills. With their season effectively over, Pollard might well be left out to allow the next generation to come through.

Head-to-head record

Matches played: 30

Kolkata Knight Riders wins: 8
