The Cricketer takes a look at the next fixture in the 2022 Indian Premier League season
Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
The first ball will be bowled at 7:30pm local time (3:30pm GMT).
It will be held at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Both teams have had difficult tournaments so far with Mumbai having lost all six of their games and Chennai coming out on top in just one encounter.
Mumbai have tried many different combinations of batting, bowling and overseas players but as of yet none have proved successful. Despite on paper having a strong batting line-up with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the top of the order and youngster Dewald Brevis showing promise with the bat, they have not found a combination to rival others in the tournament.
They have also had problems with the ball as Jasprit Bumrah has not been the destructive force teams have been faced with in previous tournaments, only taking four wickets for Mumbai so far this year. Their bowlers have at times struggled to contain the opposition’s run rate and Tymal Mills was smashed for 54 off three overs in their last fixture.
Chennai Super Kings have had an almost equally challenging tournament this year although have recently started showing signs of promise. They lost a tight game with Gujarat Titans in their last fixture where Dwayne Bravo had an excellent night with the ball.
In the previous fixture they picked up their first win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, posting 216 for 4 batting first featuring a destructive 95 off 46 balls from Shivam Dube. While Chennai have had their issues in the tournament particularly with their team batting strike rate, their recent performances indicate an upturn in form.

The battle of the West Indian allrounders with Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo will be an interesting match-up. Both at the tail-end of their careers, powerful with the bat and more than useful with the ball, neither is having the best tournament for their teams so far. Both have been key to their respective team's success over previous years and if either can have an impact on the game it may be influential in securing a win.
Equally if Moeen Ali can find his feet after a dismal start to his tournament he has huge potential to contribute to an upturn in Chennai’s fortunes. He will have to compete with his opposite number Brevis who has been explosive with the bat so far in the tournament.

Bet 365 has both sides at 10/11 to win the match, with Paddy Power puting both sides at 9/10.
Chennai takes the favourite spot. Mumbai are having such a disastrous tournament that it's difficult to see them turning it around after six losses. While Chennai have not been good either, they have shown more promising signs than Mumbai and their recent form has been more optimistic for their chances.
