Mumbai Indians have signed Akash Madhwal to replace Suryakumar Yadav, who will miss the remainder of their Indian Premier League campaign.

Five-time champions Mumbai are rock bottom, having won just three times in 12 matches in this year's tournament.

They will conclude a disappointing campaign with fixtures against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.

India batter Yadav has not featured since May 6, when he suffered an injury to a muscle on his left forearm. His competition also began with a fitness scare; he fractured his thumb in February, which ruled him out of the first week of the tournament.

Despite his team's struggles, he still made 303 runs in eight games.

Madhwal, who has never played in the IPL, is a 28-year-old seamer and will be available for Mumbai's final two games.
