Akash Madhwal returned figures of 5 for 5 – the fifth-best in IPL history – as the Super Giants were all out for 101 chasing 183
Chennai: Mumbai Indians 182-8, Lucknow Super Giants 101 – Mumbai Indians won by 81 runs
Mumbai Indians defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs to move one step closer to the IPL final.
The five-time winners will face defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Friday, with the winner advancing to Sunday's trophy showdown with Chennai Super Kings.
Batting first, the Indians made a less than ideal start, losing Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan inside the powerplay.
Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 20) and Cameron Green (41 off 23) rebuilt the innings with a 66-run third-wicket stand off 38 balls.

Tim David and Tilak Varma then put on a further 43 runs for the fifth wicket after Yadav and Green had departed in the 11th over, while a late smash and grab from Nehal Wadhera (23 off 12) helped the Indians beyond 180.
Naveen-ul-Haq picked up 4 for 38 while Yash Thakur took 3 for 34.
In reply, Lucknow Super Giants were never at the races, with Marcus Stoinis (40 off 27) the only player to make any headway with the bat.
With wickets tumbling around him, he carried his side to the brink of three figures but when he was run out in the 12th over, the Super Giants imploded, collapsing from 89 for 5 to 101 all out in under five overs.
Akash Madhwal was the chief destroyer with the ball, picking up 5 for 5 from 3.3 overs – the fifth-best figures in IPL history.
Chris Jordan (1 for 7) and Piyush Chawla (1 for 28) were the other wicket-takers while three players were run out.
