Kolkata Knight Riders draft in Matt Kelly to replace Anrich Nortje

The 24-year-old has only played 12 T20 matches in his career to date, and is on the books of Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash

Kolkata Knight Riders have signed uncapped Australian seamer Matt Kelly for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season.

Kelly arrives at the franchise to replace South African quick Anrich Nortje, who was forced to pull out of the tournament through injury.

The 24-year-old has only played 12 T20 matches in his career to date, and is on the books of Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash.

His death bowling with the Western Australia franchise won him plenty of plaudits last season.

The arrival of Kelly can be partly explained by another Western Australian - the ex-Aussie international Simon Katich - is among the backroom staff at KKR.

Kelly has recently been suggested by Mark Waugh as a possible outsider for a place in Australia's World Cup squad.
