Gujarat Titans moved up to second in the IPL table with a thumping 55-run win over Mumbai Indians.

Batting first, a half-century from Shubman Gill (56 off 34) anchored the Titans to the brink of three figures before he and Vijay Sankar fell in consecutive overs shortly after drinks.

Unfortunately, the Indians failed to take advantage of their foothold in the game, with Abhinav Manohar blasting 42 runs off 21 balls as part of an explosive 71-run fifth-wicket stand with David Miller.

Manohar was removed by Riley Meredith in the penultimate over, leaving the Titans 172 for 5, but they didn't hold back in their pursuit of a 200-plus total, with Rahul Tewetia thrashing 20 runs off just five deliveries. He and Miller added 33 runs before the latter was removed for 46 (22) off the penultimate delivery of the innings.

In reply, Mumbai Indians lost Rohit Sharma inside two overs before collapsing from 43 for 1 to 59 for 5 either side of drinks. Rashid Khan (2 for 27) accounted for Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma while Noor Ahmad (3 for 37) removed Cameron Green and Tim David.

Two overs later, Ahmad had his third, dismissing Suryakumar Yadav (23 off 12) caught and bowled to curtail the India international's bright start, and while Piyush Chawla and Nehal Wadhera showed some fight, putting on 45 runs off 24 balls for the seventh wicket, it simply delayed the end of an unsuccessful chase.

Mohit Sharma (2 for 38) struck twice at the death and combined with Wriddhiman Saha for a runout as the Indians closed on 152 for 9.

Though he didn't take any wickets, Mohammed Shami was arguably the pick of the bowlers, returning miserly figures of 0 for 18.
