Delhi: Delhi Capitals 172, Mumbai Indians 173-4 – Mumbai Indians won by six wickets
Mumbai Indians picked up their first points of the 2023 IPL season after completing a six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals.
The Indians had previously lost to RCB and Chennai Super Kings but completed their successful chase of 173 off the final delivery of the match, with Tim David diving full length to score the winning runs.
As for the Capitals, this latest defeat extends their losing streak to four matches and leaves them glued to the foot of the table.
Batting first, David Warner enjoyed productive partnerships with Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey before a flurry of wickets either side of the halfway mark saw the Capitals collapse from 76 for 1 to 98 for 5. Piyush Chawla (3 for 22) picked up three wickets during this period while Riley Meredith accounted for Yash Dhull.

Axar Patel wrestled back control for his side, blasting 54 runs off 25 deliveries as part of a 67-run stand with Warner to move the scoreboard beyond the 160-mark.
However, all of his hard work was undone with another flurry of wickets at the death. Four players were dismissed in the 19th over – three falling to Jason Behrendorff (3 for 23) and Nehal Wadhera running out Kuldeep Yadav – while Anrich Nortje was removed in the 20th as the Capitals scored just seven runs off the final two overs.
In reply, Rohit Sharma (65 off 45), Tilak Varma (41 off 29) and Ishan Kishan (31 off 26) all contributed with the bat for the Indians before three wickets in seven balls, including back-to-back dismissals for Mukesh Kumar, threatened to derail their chase.
Tim David and Cameron Green reduced the equation to five runs off six balls after dispatching the 19th, bowled by Mustafizur Rahman, for 15 runs.
Nortje conceded just three runs off the first five deliveries of the final over to set up a final-ball showdown, but David kept his cool, punching the ball to long-off and taking advantage of his giant frame to get back for two before Abishek Porel could whip the bails off.
