Daniel Sams' agent says the Australian seamer is "doing his best" in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 at the IPL.
Sams is one of several prominent players to have been forced to quarantine after returning a positive test for the novel coronavirus ahead of the 14th edition of the competition, which is due to get under way on Friday.
His manager Bill Anderson told The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald: "I guess you’re just in the hands of the doctors and so on. But at the moment he’s feeling OK, I guess a bit lonely. But doing his best."
Sams' franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, released a statement on Wednesday confirming that Sams appeared to have contracted the illness after arriving in the country.
"Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3, with a negative Covid report on arrival," the statement read.
"His report from the second test on April 7 came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility.
"Royal Challengers Bangalore medical team is in constant touch with Daniel Sams and continue to monitor his health and abide by the BCCI protocols."
India international allrounder Axar Patel, former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More - the wicketkeeping coach for Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Nitish Rana, RCB's Devdutt Padikkal, and several members of the Wankhede Stadium operations team have all tested positive for Covid-19 in the past fortnight.
