AB de Villiers is delighted with news of the return of former South Africa teammate Dale Steyn at Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Nathan Coulter-Nile's back injury ensures the Australian seamer will not join-up with RCB for the remainder of the Indian Premier League.

Steyn, 31, was previously left unsold in the auction but has been enlisted and will be available from April 16 - resuming duties with the side after two years with the franchise between 2008 and 2010.

Knowing the seamer well from their spell together in the Proteas team, De Villiers is naturally thrilled with the addition.

"I think it was a fantastic move to get Dale involved," he said, according to the ICC website.

"We all know what he's capable of. One thing is for sure, you'll get 200 per cent from him.

"He'll give his absolute best every single time he bowls for the team and it's just going to be great to have a guy of that calibre and another great human being in our team."

GLOBAL GAME

After six defeats at the start of their IPL campaign, RCB finally got off the mark as they beat Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets.

De Villiers has underwhelmed during much of the competition but made a match-winning contribution with 59 not out from 38 balls.

Victory prevented RCB from setting a new record for successive losses in the IPL, with their hopes of progressing to the knock-out stage still alive.

"Yes, we know what we have to do now - we have to win a lot of games of cricket, but the next step is Mumbai, at the Wankhede stadium," added the 35-year-old.

"We love playing cricket there.

"We'll have to do our basics and bowl it up like we did today and, hopefully, more success is around the corner."
