The Test debutant, 26, was hit shortly before lunch on the first day of the series between West Indies and Sri Lanka. He was taken from the Galle International Stadium to a hospital in Colombo.
He took the blow on the front of the helmet near the forehead after a short ball from off-spinner Roston Chase was pulled at him by Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne, who ended the day unbeaten on 132, with no time to move out of the way.
Solozano was then stretchered off after a lengthy delay.

Cricket West Indies provided an update in the evening, confirming that scans had shown “no structural damage” but that he would remain in hospital overnight.
Born in Trinidad, Solozano was selected on the back of a dogged effort in an intra-squad series ahead of the tour, during which he made 74 off 216 deliveries.
He has previously represented West Indies A, while he was also part of the same West Indies Under-19s side as Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Fabian Allen and Tagenarine Chanderpaul.
