The T20 World Cup is set to be moved to the UAE.

India was due to host the tournament but, owing to the coronavirus situation in the country, the event will move to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, the Press Trust of India report BCCI president Sourav Ganguly as saying.

"We have officially intimated the ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the United Arab Emirates. The details are being chalked out," Ganguly said.

"The decision was taken keeping health safety concerns of all stakeholders in mind."

India's total of Covid-19 infections has risen to more than 30.18 million, with nearly 400,000 deaths.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in October and November.
